Tom Dunn Viola

Tom Dunn was born in Yorkshire and studied on the Joint Course at Manchester University and The Royal Northern College of Music. Since then, he has held positions as Co-Principal Viola with the Orchestra in the Age of Enlightenment, the Orchestre Revolutionnaire et Romantique, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and the London Mozart Players.

Tom has appeared as Guest Principal Viola with the Chamber Orchestra of Europe, Scottish Chamber Orchestra, the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Manchester Camerata, the Warsaw Chamber Opera, the English Baroque Soloists, the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, the Avison Ensemble and the King’s Consort. Tom has been a member of the Quince Quartet, the London Bridge Ensemble and the Chamber Players. He has also appeared with the Aiso Quartet, and Ensemble 360.

He is currently Principal Viola of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra and is very lucky to play on a viola made in 1690 by the Flemish maker Matthijs Hofmans.
