Malin Broman Violin

Malin Broman is one of the most sought-after musical leaders in the Nordic region, active as a conductor, violinist, chamber musician and recording artist. As concertmaster of the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra, she has in recent years increasingly focused on her work as a musical director and soloist, collaborating with orchestras such as the Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, Tapiola Sinfonietta, Helsingborg Symphony Orchestra, Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, ACO Collective in Australia, Scottish Ensemble and Tampere Philharmonic Orchestra. She has also worked with musicians including Pekka Kuusisto, Janine Jansen, Rick Stotijn and Peter Mattei.

Malin Broman is currently Artistic Director of both the Nordic Chamber Orchestra and the Ostrobothnian Chamber Orchestra in Finland, where she succeeded Sakari Oramo.

Born in Sweden, she completed her studies in London with David Takeno. Malin Broman has, over the past two decades, been active internationally as a passionate chamber musician, touring and recording with ensembles such as the Kungsbacka Piano Trio, Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble and London’s Nash Ensemble.

As a soloist, she has performed Brahms’ Double Concerto with Steven Isserlis under the direction of Daniel Harding, and has premiered a large number of violin concertos by composers including Helen Grime, Sally Beamish, Daniel Börtz, Britta Byström, Andrea Tarrodi, Daniel Nelson and Jesper Nordin. She has also received international recognition for her recordings, including Nielsen’s Violin Concerto and Helen Grime’s Violin Concerto, the latter selected and named Concerto of the Month by BBC Music Magazine in 2026.

During the pandemic, her YouTube video of Mendelssohn’s Octet – where she performs all eight parts herself – gained widespread international attention. In 2019, she was awarded the H.M. The King’s Medal for her contributions to musical life.

Malin Broman plays on a Guarneri del Gesù copy by Stephan von Baehr, as well as a viola by Candi.
