The Opening Concert leads towards rare performances of two Boulez masterworks in the 9.30pm concert, including some spectacular electronics.

The shocking opening of Mozart’s Dissonance quartet sets the scene for an evening of ground-breaking classics.

After the interval, Stephen Walsh, writer and broadcaster on classical music will introduce Messiaen Quatuor pour la fin du temps, giving context to this 20th century masterpiece and insights into the legacy he inspired, including the music of Pierre Boulez.
